Parking

 

Parking decals are given free of charge to students on the first day of class. Place them in the driver side rear window. There is ample decal-only parking centrally located on the college campus. All campus parking and buildings are handicap accessible. The College assumes no responsibility for student vehicles or items left in student vehicles.

Simulation Laboratory Learning


SimMan 3G®, a computerized, interactive, high fidelity simulation mannequin that talks, breathes and responds like a patient.
SimJunior® is a pediatric simulator representing a six-year-old boy with a wide range of conditions, from a healthy talking child to an unresponsive, critical patient.

Nursing Skills Laboratories


Two Nursing Skills Laboratories contain seven electric patient beds with assorted adult low and mid-fidelity mannequins, a VitalSim®, two wall-mounted blood pressure cuffs and an otoscopic and ophthalmoscopic trainer.
The obstetrics nursing model simulates obstetric care with antepartal and postpartal assessments, a neonatal care station with an isolette, a radiant warmer unit, an electronic scale and a newborn mannequin.
Nurse Aide Skills Laboratory contains patient beds, geriatric low-fidelity mannequins, blood pressure cuffs, student and teaching stethoscopes and assorted disposable supplies.

Allied Health Laboratories


Two large Radiologic Technology Skills Laboratories include a radiographic table with a bucky, a column-mounted non-energized radiographic tube, an upright bucky and appropriate accessories.
The Surgical Technology Skills Laboratory includes a surgical practice area set up like an operating room, equipped with an OR bed, cane stirrups and arm-boards, mannequin, IV poles, mayo stands, instrument tables, ESU (electrosurgical unit), suction canisters/stand, two overhead surgical lights and functioning scrub station.
The Cardiovascular Technology Skills Laboratory has seven ultrasound machines, an ergonomic chair, stretcher, ultrasound gel and warmer, positioning wedges, cable brace, flipchart reference materials and other disposable supplies.
The Physical Therapy Assistant Skills Laboratory contains a variety of evaluative and gait training equipment, positioning devices, exercise equipment and human anatomy reference models.

Anatomy Laboratory

Available for use by students of all College programs, the Anatomy Laboratory contains human anatomy reference materials such as skeletal models, upper and lower limb muscle models and anatomy flipcharts.

These skills laboratories provide an area for student practice skills performance evaluations under faculty supervision. Open laboratory hours are available in some skills laboratories and upon request. Laboratory equipment is in good working order and is maintained on an ongoing basis by Riverside Regional Medical Center Biomed Department, Laerdal and Hill-Rom.

Respiratory Care Skills Laboratory

The Respiratory skills laboratory includes patient beds with headwalls providing suction, medical air, and oxygen designed to mimic a hospital setting. The laboratory also contains oxygen delivery devices, bronchial hygiene therapy modalities, lung expansion devices, blood gas and airway management equipment, airway training manikins, CPR/AED Trainers, BiPAP machines and mechanical ventilators.

There are more than 15 classrooms located in all buildings across campus. Each features spacious desks, WIFI, and updated media equipment to foster a positive learning environment.

The Ruby Pope Drumm Health Sciences Library’s collection contains over 5,000 books and 200 print journals. You will also have access to over 4,000 online journals and 100 eBooks as nursing, medical and allied health learning resources. Audiovisual and electronic resources are available as well. The OVID database provides access to 81 Lippincott journals in nursing and clinical and essential hospital collections, and students can access online resources like Pubmed and The Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature (CINAHL). In addition, the library provides online access to the OVID database with access to full-text journals and abstracts from Emcare, Nursing Database, and MEDLINE. The library also provides health information searches and interlibrary loans. There is a spacious media center for students, faculty, physicians and other health system personnel. The library computer learning lab provides numerous computers with instructional programs focused on nursing and allied health skills and is open for student use during posted library operating hours
